Why use Connect the Doc?
Normally, when someone needs to find a dentist, physiotherapist, massage therapist, or chiropractor on short notice, they would have to pick up the phone and call multiple clinics to find an availability. This process is inefficient and frustrating for both clinics and patients. With Connect the Doc, prospective patients can use our platform to compare different clinics, practitioners, and availabilities. Appointments can be booked directly online, even if it is after hours and the clinic is closed.
How long does booking an appointment take?
Once you have found the appointment you want to book, it takes about 45 seconds to book and confirm the appointment online - provided you have a Connect the Doc patient account. If you do not have an account, you can sign up for free in under a minute.
Can anyone use Connect the Doc?
Anyone 18 years or older can use Connect the Doc to book their appointments online. We do require all users to have a cell phone that can receive SMS text messages, as all appointments must be confirmed with a 4-digit code that is sent to a cell phone. Currently, appointments can be made on Connect the Doc with Dentists, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, and Registered Massage Therapists in Vancouver. We will be rapidly expanding throughout Greater Vancouver and Canada in the near future!
At what age can I start taking my child to the dentist?
It is recommended that children start seeing the dentist once all 20 of their baby teeth have grown in, this is usually between the ages of 2-3. If the child’s family has a history of poor oral health then they can go as early as they get their first tooth. Parents should start helping their children with oral health as early as possible. A warm washcloth can be used to clean the gums before the first tooth comes in. Once teeth start growing in, a soft bristled children toothbrush can be used for cleaning. It is also recommended that children use fluoride free toothpaste until they understand how to spit properly, as fluoride should not be digested.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign® is the clear alternative to braces. Your dental professional will take a custom molding of your mouth and start a treatment plan for you. Every two weeks you receive a new, custom made, invisible plastic insert which will gently move your teeth into place. Aligners are virtually undetectable and do not affect your speech.
Are dentists allowed to perform Botox®?
Typically Yes. Dentists are skilled experts and have a tremendous understanding of the facial muscles as well as the steady hands. Each province or state may be different however. It is up to the local regulations that determine whether or not Botox® and other dermal fillers fall within the scope of practice.
Can seeing a dentist help with migraines and headaches?
It is possible. Migraines and headaches can be caused by many different things ranging from dehydration to an irregular bite. If your headaches are caused by clenching, grinding, or a TMJ disorder then a dentist can help. Dentists may make a custom night guard for your clenching and grinding or may help you fix your bite through retainers, braces, or jaw reconstruction.
