Is chiropractic care covered under my extended health insurance?
Most extended healthcare plans cover a large portion of each chiropractor appointment, up to a certain amount per year (Generally between $350-600/ year). Some insurance providers will require co-payments, doctor’s referrals etc. so it is very important that you contact your extended healthcare insurance provider prior to your appointment so that you can understand the extent of your coverage and the terms.
What happens during a “chiropractic adjustment”?
Using therapeutic manipulation techniques, chiropractors use controlled force to release stresses between joints. Often you might hear a popping sound which comes from the releasing of gas built up in joints.
Does having your back “adjusted” hurt?
Typically no. Most patients acknowledge that they can feel the force / pressure during a treatment and may acknowledge that it is ‘uncomfortable,’ however it is rarely considered to be painful. When you do decide to see a chiropractor for the first time, it is very important you talk to them about all of your concerns during your initial injury assessment. If your experience is more uncomfortable than you expect, be sure to discuss this with the chiropractor so that they have a better understanding of how your body reacts and feels after an adjustment.
What should I expect in my first chiropractic treatment?
Your first chiropractic treatment will generally be a 45 min – 60 min consultation. In this consultation you will talk about your health & treatment history, and symptoms. Your chiropractor may also do some exercises with you to help identify the areas of pains and the movements that aggravate these specific areas. The chiropractor will then discuss with you the best course of action to getting your body healthy!
Why use connect the Doc?
Normally, when someone needs to find a Vancouver Chiropractor, physiotherapist, massage therapist, or dentist on short notice, they would have to pick up the phone and call multiple clinics to find an availability. This process is inefficient and frustrating for both clinics and patients. With Connect the Doc, prospective patients can use our platform to compare different clinics, practitioners, and availabilities. Appointments can be booked directly online, even if it is after hours and the clinic is closed.
How long does booking an appointment take?
Once you have found the appointment you want to book, it takes about 45 seconds to book and confirm the appointment online - provided you have a Connect the Doc patient account. If you do not have an account, you can sign up for free in under a minute.
Can anyone use Connect the Doc?
Anyone 18 years or older can use Connect the Doc to book their appointments online. We do require all users to have a cell phone that can receive SMS text messages, as all appointments must be confirmed with a 4-digit code that is sent to a cell phone. Currently, appointments can be made on Connect the Doc with Dentists, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, and Registered Massage Therapists in Vancouver. We will be rapidly expanding throughout Greater Vancouver and Canada in the near future!
